BTC Market Pulse: Week 33
Bitcoin has stabilised near $65k, with stronger taker demand, robust institutional inflows and easing downside hedging. However, subdued spot liquidity and weak on-chain activity suggest the recovery remains tentative.
Overview
Bitcoin has stabilised around $65k, extending its recovery from the late-June lows near $58k, though recent price action remains range-bound beneath the $66k area. Momentum has returned toward neutral and spot taker buying has accelerated sharply, but overall centralized exchange turnover remains subdued. This divergence points to improving demand within a broader consolidation regime rather than a broad-based expansion in speculative activity.
Derivatives markets reflect a similar balance. Perpetual taker activity has pushed above upper statistical bounds, signalling more aggressive directional participation, while open interest and funding remain moderate. Leverage is therefore building in a relatively controlled manner. At the same time, options skew has compressed, indicating a reduced premium for downside protection and an easing of near-term defensive positioning.
Institutional allocation remains one of the more constructive signals. Regulated investment vehicles have recorded exceptionally strong netflows, breaching upper statistical thresholds even as secondary-market trading volumes have cooled modestly. On-chain, the share of hot capital has also edged higher alongside a rising short-term-to-long-term supply ratio, suggesting a gradual return of more price-sensitive capital.
Underlying network activity, however, remains muted. Active addresses, transfer volume and fee generation have moved toward lower statistical bounds, pointing to limited transactional urgency and subdued organic demand. Network-wide profitability has improved modestly as the share of supply held in profit continues to rise, although realized losses still exceed realized profits on-chain.
Overall, the market remains in a transitional recovery phase. Improving institutional flows, stronger taker demand and less defensive options positioning provide a constructive backdrop, but subdued spot liquidity and weak network activity suggest the recovery has yet to develop into a broad-based expansion.
