BTC Market Pulse: Week 32
Bitcoin has slipped to ~$62.6k as spot demand remains weak and derivatives stay defensive. Stronger on-chain activity, resilient holders and ETF inflows offer support, but conviction remains muted.
Overview
Bitcoin has drifted toward the lower end of its recent range, retreating from the mid-$65k region to around $62.6k after failing to sustain a recovery above $66k. The latest price action reflects moderating spot momentum, with persistent net selling pressure and subdued turnover reinforcing a consolidation regime lacking clear breakout conviction. Derivatives positioning was more mixed, as aggregate open interest contracted while perpetual funding rates moved higher and aggressive sell-side taker volume eased.
Options markets maintained a defensive bias. The 25-delta skew widened, signalling increased demand for downside protection, while speculative open interest continued to contract. In contrast, ETF markets recorded a rebound in weekly net flows and trading volume, pointing to renewed allocation through regulated institutional channels, even as aggregate investor profitability moved closer to cost-basis levels.
On-chain activity strengthened materially. Daily active addresses and entity-adjusted transfer volumes moved above their upper statistical bands, indicating a notable increase in network engagement and economic throughput. This was accompanied by a modest rise in fresh, price-sensitive capital and a stabilisation in broader capital outflows, reflected in a slight improvement in monthly realised-capitalisation changes.
Holder behaviour remained resilient. The ratio of short-term to long-term holder supply stayed near historical lows, suggesting that long-term conviction remains largely intact and insulated from short-term speculative turnover. However, market-wide profitability continued to weaken, with the share of supply held in profit near cyclical lows and realised spending increasingly characterised by defensive loss-taking.
Overall, the market remains in a transitional phase. Resilient long-term holding patterns, stronger on-chain activity and renewed ETF demand provide a degree of structural support, but persistent valuation pressure, weak spot momentum and defensive derivatives positioning continue to constrain broader risk appetite.
